New Site For Outdoorsy Dallasites

DFW Outdoors (www.dfwoutdoors.com) recently launched a new Web site for Dallasites who enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. Inspired by a similar club in Austin called Hill Country Outdoors, the Dallas-area club provides a social organization for people who enjoy such as hiking, running, caving, climbing, canoeing, or biking. The group also schedules indoor social events, such as happy hour gatherings, wine tastings, and movie outings.

The new Web site serves as an adjunct for planning these and other group events. Members can view and RSVP for events online, see a list of who is attending each event, use instant messaging to communicate with other members, subscribe to email reminders and updates, and post to message boards.

According to club founder Erich de Bruyn, the site serves as the DFW Outdoors “virtual clubhouse” and it allows members to have a great deal of input into the activities sponsored by the club. He is also quick to point out that the club is not a singles club. “We’re not a meat market. Anyone — couples or singles — may feel welcome and comfortable.” For additional information, visit the site or call (817) 521-5536. For information about the Austin-area club, which offers the same online environment and similar events, visit www.hillcountryoutdoors.com.
